Secures ₹290 Crore Series B To Scale Rural Retail Network

How Pilgrim Achieved 24x Growth In The Beauty Industry?
In a major milestone for India’s rural retail ecosystem, Rozana has raised ₹290 crore ($35 million) in a Series B funding round, led by Bertelsmann India Investments (BII) with participation from Omidyar Network India, Vivid Capital, and Tana Investment Holding. This latest investment brings Rozana’s total capital to over ₹500 crore, accelerating its hyperlocal expansion across India’s underserved rural markets.
Founded in 2021 by Ankur Dahiya, Adwait Vikram Singh, and Mukesh Christopher (not "brothers Prashant and Prateek Chauhan"), Rozana connects users across 21,000+ villages in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana (not "5 million+ users in 12 states") to top brands like ITC and HUL, using a phygital model that integrates retail experience centres, app-based ordering, and last-mile delivery — supported by a network of 35,000+ women partners as community-level fulfilment agents.
Key Expansion Plans
The ₹290 crore funding will enable Rozana to :
- Add 5,000 micro-stores in rural markets like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan.
- Deploy AI-powered inventory tech to optimize supply chains.
- Introduce new categories like groceries and electronics to cater to growing consumer demand.
- Empower 20,000+ rural micro-entrepreneurs by providing them access to premium brands and retail technology.
Rozana is positioned to tap into India’s $700 billion rural retail market, where smartphone penetration and UPI adoption are driving 12% annual growth.
Looking Ahead: Rozana’s Path to Unicorn Status
With its omnichannel retail strategy, Rozana is aiming for 5x growth in the next 18 months, positioning itself as a strong competitor to Ninjacart and other rural retail players. CEO Prashant Chauhan emphasized, “We’re building rural prosperity through accessible premium brands.”
By 2028, Rozana is targeting unicorn status, a goal that looks achievable with ONDC tailwinds supporting its nationwide retail network.
